You’re in the right place. Here are some quick answers to the questions I get most often—from shipping and commissions to where you can see my latest work in person. 1. Do you take commissions? Yes, I do! If you have a concept or space in mind, I'm happy to work with you to create something custom. Let's talk to see if it's a good fit for both of us. 2. What materials do you use? I work in mixed media-typically acrylic, inks, oil and cold wax, and hand-painted upcycled papers. I also incorporate natural materials I find on hikes: leaves, sticks, sand, bark. If it tells a story, it might end up in a painting. 3. Are your materials archival and lightfast? Yes. I use the highest quality professional-grade, archival materials-paints, mediums, adhesives, and surfaces. Whenever possible, I choose pigments and components that are lightfast, meaning they resist fading over time. Each painting is also finished with a museum-quality archival UV varnish to protect against light, moisture, and dust. 4. How should I care for my painting? Keep artwork in a dry environment and out of prolonged direct sunlight. For added protection-especially for works on paper-framing under glass or acrylic is a good idea. To clean, dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. No sprays or cleaning products, please. 5. Can I visit your studio? Yes, my studio is located in Southwest Harbor, Maine. Visits are welcome by appointment-just reach out and we'll find a time that works. 6. Do you ship your work? I do. Shipping is available anywhere in the U.S., and fees are based on the size of the painting and the destination. I pack everything carefully to make sure it arrives safely. 7. Do you make larger work? Where can I see it? Yes, I regularly create larger pieces. You can view them on my website, in person at my studio, or at the galleries that represent me-Artemis Gallery in Northeast Harbor, Maine and Nepenthe Gallery in Alexandria, Virginia. I also regularly exhibit in juried shows in New York City, Washington, DC, California, and throughout New England. Upcoming and recent exhibitions are listed on my website. 8. Can I get a discount? Yes-if you sign up for my newsletter, you'll receive 10% off one painting. If you buy two pieces, you'll get 10% off the less expensive one. Buy three, and I'll take 15% off the least expensive item. (Discounts can't be combined.) 9. Do you offer workshops or classes? Occasionally. I announce them through my newsletter or social media when I have one planned. 10. Can I pick up a piece instead of having it shipped? Yes-local pickup from my studio is always an option and a good way to save on shipping costs. 11. Is everything one-of-a-kind? Yes. Each piece is original, and most include hand-painted and found materials that can't be replicated exactly. 12. Do you offer framing? While framing isn't included, I work with a trusted custom framer who creates beautiful floater frames designed to fit my work. Many of my pieces on paper are mounted to cradled wood panels using pH-neutral archival adhesive, so they can be displayed without a frame for a clean, modern look. I typically avoid framing under glass, as it can cause sticking or condensation damage with acrylic or oil paint and may dull the layered surface of the work. My archival UV varnish provides durable protection while allowing textures and details to remain fully visible.

Oil and Cold Wax Medium Cold Wax serves as a lush medium for oil painting, crafted from a blend of beeswax, a touch of solvent, and resin to create a smooth, creamy paste. This mixture is then combined with oil paint on the palette. Incorporating Cold Wax enriches the paint, imparting body, transparency, and a sense of depth to the artwork.

Camille Kouyoumdjian paints in acrylic, watercolor, collage, mixed media and oil paint to create contemporary landscape artwork. Camille's semi-abstract style invites viewers to develop their own narrative. Her work is displayed in numerous juried exhibits. My artistic background stems from diverse influences and learning experiences. Growing up between the Blue Ridge Mountains and eastern seaboard, I developed a deep appreciation for the environment and an understanding of humanity's impact on it. After exploring eco-systems throughout the U.S. and abroad, I relocated to a place that has always resonated with me and served as my artistic muse: Mount Desert Island, Maine. Many of my mixed media paintings are inspired by exploration of this unique environment, and I am thrilled to call it home. Prior to becoming a full-time artist, my professional experience in international development and public health allowed me to explore different cultures and their environmental challenges. Additionally, my roles as a Master Gardener, Master Food educator, and beekeeper further deepened my understanding of the intricate connections between people and our surroundings. For many years, I worked as a Federal program analyst, and as a writer and photographer for horticultural magazines. These experiences brought me closer to the delicate ecosystems on which humankind relies, and ultimately inspired me to explore my creative curiosity through visual artwork. I now work full time to create paintings that reflect humanity's connection with the natural world. My studio, Wild Horizon, reflects my reverence for wilderness and hope for its future. Inspiration for new paintings often emerges through engaging intimately with a particular landscape. I hike, cycle, and kayak the land, as well as learning as much as possible about its history and ecology. I invite others to join me on this journey, to explore landscapes near and far, and to find inspiration and connection through my artwork.
