Morning Muse is an oil and cold wax painting inspired by the quiet clarity of early morning walks. Exploring each day, I notice both the intimate changes in the landscape and the broader seasonal changes. Always in the back of my mind are memories of the same landscape years ago, and the changes cast by time, environmental and human impacts. As a beekeeper, I’m constantly aware of how precious and limited our natural resources are. That awareness draws me to cold wax—a natural, nontoxic medium made from beeswax that blends seamlessly with oil paint, eliminating the need for solvents. Its soft translucency adds an ethereal glow to the piece, echoing the stillness and subtle magic coastal wilderness.
