Discover the beauty of National Parks through stunning artwork. Explore our online art store and support the conservation of these natural wonders. National Parks and Conservation Lands As a fine artist, I strive to explore and portray humanity's reliance on nature through art. The preservation of wide open spaces for all to enjoy must be celebrated and appreciated. Climate change, human impact, and competing interests threaten rare wildlife and the habitats they call home. My Conservation Lands paintings are inspired by parklands around the world and honor their unique role in our lives. Curious about a particular painting? Camille Kouyoumdjian paints mixed-media landscapes that reflect the natural world. Camille's paintings aim to evoke a sense of awe and reverence for fragile ecosystems. Her artwork encourages contemplation and reflection on our relationship with nature, allowing the viewer to develop their own personal narrative. In cultivating these meaningful connections, the work Ms. Kouyoumdjian produces offers a bridge to seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor spaces. Encountering a vast and unexplored landscape feels both daunting and exhilarating. Will we give in to fear and turn around, or take a deep dive into the unknown and accept the outcome? Painting the landscape presents similar risks and challenges. A blank canvas provides an opportunity to build connections between the chaos of the outside world and the deep human response it evokes. Sometimes my artwork is quite literal, capturing the light and beauty of a particular moment. Moving away from that moment, the work evolves into a more abstract representation of memory and emotion. Art can never truly replicate nature; we may only attempt to interpret it. My goal is to evoke a sense of connection, timelessness, and hope for the future. I invite you to explore my work and reach out to discuss acquiring a unique work of art! Camille Kouyoumdjian paints in acrylic, watercolor, collage, mixed media and oil paint to create contemporary landscape artwork. Camille's semi-abstract style invites viewers to develop their own narrative. Her work is displayed in numerous juried exhibits. My artistic background stems from diverse influences and learning experiences. Growing up between the Blue Ridge Mountains and eastern seaboard, I developed a deep appreciation for the environment and an understanding of humanity's impact on it. After exploring eco-systems throughout the U.S. and abroad, I relocated to a place that has always resonated with me and served as my artistic muse: Mount Desert Island, Maine. Many of my mixed media paintings are inspired by exploration of this unique environment, and I am thrilled to call it home. Prior to becoming a full-time artist, my professional experience in international development and public health allowed me to explore different cultures and their environmental challenges. Additionally, my roles as a Master Gardener, Master Food educator, and beekeeper further deepened my understanding of the intricate connections between people and our surroundings. For many years, I worked as a Federal program analyst, and as a writer and photographer for horticultural magazines. These experiences brought me closer to the delicate ecosystems on which humankind relies, and ultimately inspired me to explore my creative curiosity through visual artwork. I now work full time to create paintings that reflect humanity's connection with the natural world. My studio, Wild Horizon, reflects my reverence for wilderness and hope for its future. Inspiration for new paintings often emerges through engaging intimately with a particular landscape. I hike, cycle, and kayak the land, as well as learning as much as possible about its history and ecology. I invite others to join me on this journey, to explore landscapes near and far, and to find inspiration and connection through my artwork. Explore the colorful world of flowers by Camille Kouyoumdjian. A long-time master gardener, Camille paints unique and intricate flora from the perspective of pollinators. Flora Collection The Flora Collection draws inspiration from the quiet resilience of the natural world. Each work layers mixed media—paint, hand-painted papers, and found organic elements—to capture the fleeting beauty of petals, stems, and leaves while hinting at the strength that allows them to endure wind, tide, and time. Though delicate on the surface, flora embodies persistence and adaptability. This collection reflects that duality: fragility interlaced with fortitude, transience rooted in survival.
