Winter Wonderland — Contemporary Coastal Landscape Paintings

Winter Wonderland explores winter as a force rather than a season—where wind carves, light dissolves, and the landscape is reduced to its essential structure. This series of semi-abstract winter landscape paintings draws from the stark coastlines of Maine and California, translating cold, movement, and exposure into layered, tactile surfaces.

Built with acrylic, oil, and cold wax, each painting develops through a process of accumulation and removal. Surfaces are scraped, veiled, and reworked, allowing fragments of earlier layers to surface—like terrain revealed beneath snow and ice. A restrained palette of icy blues, mineral whites, muted golds, and earth tones creates a quiet tension between stillness and motion.
